basic waffles

I have been excited about trying to make waffles for a while, anything to break the monotony of porridge. So today was the day that we got up early and went out and bought the cheapest waffle iron in the shop. And finally at 11.30 two batters later I was eating waffles.

2 eggs
11/8 cup of milk
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups of flour
put all the ingredients into a food processor and whizz until the batter is smooth and lump free. You can do this in a mixing bowl by hand too, but take care to mix well. Heat the waffle iron and pour in the batter. Cook until golden. Served here with stewed red skinned apples, cinnamon sugar and maple syrup.

  1. I have been eyeing waffle machines for some time, but can’t make up my mind….It would be another machine to add to my growing kitchen machine collection….sigh, but they look SO mjammie…
